EPISODE 5 & #ADWshorts!
Hello folks!!! Welcome to another edition of "A Daze Blog". I'm very excited for Episode 5, which comes out next week! We're shooting for Monday, but the animation process is a long one, so we don't want to set Monday in stone just yet. This episode is going to be focused on Junior and his disdain for TV weather people. Also, Merv stops by to talk a little smack before the big Grill Off which will happen in Episode 6, our season finale. Can you believe Season 1 is almost over!!!
We won't disappear when Season 1 ends though. We've got our second animator working on our #ADWshorts. If you don't know by now, #ADWshorts will be 60-90 second episodes that stand on their own. They don't really add to the running stories of Season 1. I'm very excited for these. They'll add a nice sketch comedy element to the show and give me a chance to create even more crazy characters. The first episode of #ADWshorts will be a parody of newly elected NJ Senator Cory Booker. The episode won't have a political theme, but will focus more on parodying Senator Booker's "super hero" status. The character's name will be Barry Cooker. See what I did there! The first short will be up this month, fingers crossed!
WRITING SEASON 2!
I also started mapping out the direction of Season 2 this week. I'm aiming for a 7 episode second season with even more ridiculous customers. I'm excited to write the next season for two reasons. First, I'm mapping out several story lines before writing episodes. Last season I kind of went episode to episode, then went back to add in pieces. It's my first time writing an episodic show like this, but I knew there had to be a better way. Second, Tim will be much more involved in the writing process. We're going to have a creative meeting so I can get his input on things he'd like to see in the show. He put the show completely in my hands before Season 1, but still had some input. Since he actually worked at a pizza place, I want to pull some real stories out of him and then put my comedic twist on them. Should make for an awesome second season.
SPENDING THAT TUBESTART MONEY!
Thanks to Facebook Ads we've built an awesome following on Facebook. We're closing in on 500 Likes on our page! We also tried advertising on YouTube and Twitter, but the results weren't great. We might try again in the future, as campaigns on those sites are highly customizable, but we felt Facebook delivered the best results. Facebook was also very cost effective. We spent much less there and still achieved great results.
Speaking of spending, we used some of our donations to purchase several custom made vinyl figures of characters on the show. After watching Comedy Central's Vines over the summer, I loved how they used a figure of Bender to promote the final season of Futurama. Now that Instagram has added short videos, that's two great advertising opportunities. Also, it's extremely fun to make short videos of action figures. My personal action figure collection is huge. So expect to see characters from A Daze Work in short videos with super heroes, WWE superstars, Thundercats, etc. We hope these videos continue to expand our audience for the cartoon with short bursts of humor. The figures for Moose & Junior are already complete, and they look fantastic. Here's the link to Cal's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CalciferBoheme. He's a super talented guy that's created a ton of custom figures.
We're still looking to contact some of our TubeStart Donators. Only a handful have responded to emails asking about what T-shirt size they wear, and what character they'd like a drawing of. If you donated to our campaign, and haven't received our emails, please check your spam box. You can also email us directly at email@example.com.
WRAP IT UP!
That's it for this week. Make sure you hit us up on all our social media pages: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr. Also, please subscribe to our YouTube channel. That's super important! Keep watching cartoons, and stay dazed.
